John 14:1-14
"God's House," Spark Story Bible, p.448
Two boys dig a hole in search of something spectacular. When they become too tired to dig anymore, they fall asleep. They wake up as they begin to fall, but find themselves falling toward home.
How these stories are connected: Jesus assures us that God’s House is big enough for all of us. No matter where we go or what we do, in the end we will arrive at the place Jesus has prepared for us. Just like Sam and Dave, we will discover that our search for something spectacular leads us home.
Why do Sam & Dave dig a hole?
Did you notice that they are always close to something spectacular?
What do you think about that?
Where does their digging lead them? Why?
Questions about the Bible story:
Where did Jesus tell his disciples he was going?
What was he doing there?
How are the disciples going to get there?
What did Jesus tell them to do while he was gone? Why?
Questions about our lives:
What spectacular things do you like to do?
How do those things help us find our way to God’s House?
Prayer
Dear God, no matter what we do help us remember that you have a place in your house for us. Help us spend our lives searching for and doing spectacular things, so you might be pleased with us when we come to your house . Amen.
